"Dazzled to Death" Feat: Orly "Ingenue"

Good day lovelies! Now, i have some semi-exciting news for Kattatonic Fierceology. I know that most of you began following my blog because of the makeup, daily looks, and real life product reviews. I'm trying to get back to that. I've been wearing all my makeups again, and as soon as my skills are up to par, or at least my previous standard you'll be seeing makeup looks again mingled in with new product reviews, and of course nail looks and step by steps. One review i am psyched about coming up is the new Palette d' Antoinette from Lime Crime cosmetics that should be here very soon, if not today! This mani began with two coats of Orly "Ingenue" as a base. From there i worked in the order presented to sponge on a gradient to each nail. I of course began with the darker "Side Saddle" and followed with "In Awe of Amber."

I finished with a generous sponging of "Blond Bombshell" near the tips of each nail. I brought together all mt spongy madness with a coat of "Glass Slipper" on each nail.

"Bunny Nails" Feat: Orly "Flirty"

They're cute hu? I got my idea for my bunny nails from Cute Polish around Easter. If you have never watched any of her videos i'd go check them out because, she has tons of tutorials that are easy to follow and excellent for people who don't feel confident in their nail art skills.

I will never stop loving this polish. It was one of the firsts in my polish obsession and remains to this day to be one of my favorites. "Flirty" is a bight pink creme shimmer polish that dried with an interesting but not awful texture. In fact the texture is quite neat. My only gripe about this polish would be that the formula does have a tendency to be a little thick, but that helps to achieve opacity in two coats, shown above.

Wet n' Wild "French White" Core Wild Shine
Using the brush from French White i created half circles on my ring finger and thumb. With a dotting tool a used a generous amount to create the ears by dragging down a dollop into the half circle. This step can be rather intimidating, but if you practice on a nail wheel or even paper first you will be able to do this with confidence. Just remember to take your time. Also make sure you are using an opaque white. Sheer whites will only become troublesome.

With a dotting tool i used "Side Saddle" a dark shimmer brown for two large dots to begin my eyes. With a smaller dotting tool i made a small oval for the nose and filled in the ears.

Wet n' Wild "French White" Core Wild Shine
Again with the French White and my dotting tools. I used a medium dotting tool for the eyes. I continued with a larger dotting tool and gobs of polish to create my dripping mani on the rest of my nails. I achieved this by placing a series of dots where i wanted the drips to end and continued by filling in the empty spaces by dragging around the polish with my dotting tool. I was sure to be generous in the process to ensure i didn't snag on my layer of "Flirty."

I finished with a top coat. This was such a simple design that i positively loved. It does take a bit of time and patience but i do think the end product it worth it.

I feel like this is a kinda pointless post because i don't have an ultra high  resolution camera. This is more of a layered swatch post than a mani/nail look. I don't know, i promise you some actual posts of quality in the near-ish future. I feel like i just don't have the time for it right now. Please bear with me, as these are trying times.

Honestly, this mani is made up of polish that i just wanted to wear on a lazy day that i didn't feel up to nail art on. I began with Essie "Beach Bum Blu" from the Go Overboard collection. I will never stop loving the Go Overboard collection. There is just to much amazing in it. As always, i had no issues with this polish because Essie is amazing. However, i didn't like it as much as i thought i would, i feel like it's just weird on my skin tone.

 After my two coats of the flawless "Beach Bum Blu" i did one coat of OPI "Save Me" (Nicki Minaj 2012) and one of China Glaze "Techno" (Electropop 2012.) The idea of "Save Me" is awesome, the application is weird, in my opinion. I think it's just the bar glitter. I used to have tons of bar glitter polishes when i was younger, but they seem so unconventional and odd to me now. You can hardly see "Techno" amidst all the chaos of "Save Me." I was way way more excited about "Techno" when i saw it online, in person i feel confused and indifferent about it. Over all i'm just so far over silver glitter of any kind. Come on solid colored glitters!

This month has help a variety of interesting events for me. To put it simply, this has been one hell of a month. One whirl wind after another. The events of this month are the reason why i feel no shame for my lack of posting as of late.

I enjoy weird colors, Sew Psyched is an amazing weird color. The photos of this shade are rather deceiving. In person i feel that this polish has more of a green hue to it rather than the intense gray that its showing through right now. The formula is fantastic and the dreamy creme finish is to die for. I'd encourage all of you to get out of your comfort zone a pick up a bottle of this to start your weird color collection.

China Glaze "Zombie Zest" Halloween 2010

I picked up this polish all random like at a swap meet. When i saw Zombie Zest i knew it had to be mine. Pictured here is one coat layered over "Sew Psyched." Zombie Zest is a dark mossy green infested with gold micro glitter. I have not tried this polish on it's own, but due to the sheer formula I'd recommend it be used over a solid base.

Essie "As Gold as it Gets" Luxe Effects 2012

I needed more gold for this mani. As Gold as it Gets was the key to ampping up the gold flecks and taking Zombie Zest to the next level. As Gold as it Gets is a lovely gold fleck polish that i have issues finding a pair for. This is undeniable a layering polish but will add an extra glam with out going over the tops. As usual, Essie produces fantastic formula and this polish is no exception.

"Anchor Nails" Feat: Essie "Go Overboard"

I've always had a secret soft spot of nautical looks, however I've never taken the action in that direction because it was to trendy, to hip, to fake. Secretly, i'd love to be a sailor. Not a sailor in he sense of being on a boat, in the ocean, out at sea. I do not like being out at sea at all. I'd love o be a sailor in the sense of those sexy pin up girls in tiny sailor out fits, in seductive red lip stick and stiletto heels. A sailor in the IAMX sense. This isn't my best work, but it was a start at trying something new.

 I used two coats of Essie "Go Overbord" a very unique blue which I found looses a lot of stun power once matted. I sponged on "Lush and Luxe" on all my tips and painted my entire ring finger. With a dotting tool, i used "Beach Bum Blu" to make dots above the sponged "Lush and Luxe." With a dotting tool once more i used "Whirlwind White" to very carefully create my wonky anchors on each ring finger. I used the matte top coat to finish this look.

"Seeing Stars" Feat: China Glaze "Smoke and Ashes"

OMFG HUNGER GAMES! Not really, still haven't jumped on the hype, i'm just buying the polish. Today i have an overkill look that i did for a Polishaholic Mani Monday challenge. I still don't know when to stop. The theme was Sun, Moon, or Stars. I chose stars because i had Kleancolor "Blind Date" with stars already in it.

 China Glaze "Smoke and Ashes" Capitol Colors 2012 (Hunger Games)

When i told people i thought i got "Stone Cold" and found out i had "Smoke and Ashes" i was kinda disappointed. However, like all the colors i've seen from the Capitol Colors collection in honor of the Hunger Games, this is a unique polish. I would describe "Smoke and Ashes" just as it's name. I picture wet (or hot rather) tar sprinkled with glimmer ash. You know at first how ash it really neat looking before you touch it or it blows away, "Smoke and Ashes" preserves that look. This it two coats, and this it the first polish in a while that has bubbled on me. You can see on my thumb in the left picture and on my ring finger on the right photo.

Color Zone "Unknown Blue Holo Glitter"

Before my trip to the swap meet i had never heard of Color Zone. This polish caught my eye because of the bright blue base and huge holo hex glitters. With a makeup sponge i added extra glitter to my tips going about half way down my nail.

This is where i went to far. Originally i wanted thin silver lines mixed in with the glitter from my tips, but i was having issues with my striper brush and i ended up with fat silver kinda lines on the opposite side of my nail. I was annoyed.

Now for the over kill. The reason i went for the stars is because this was for a Mani Monday theme challenge. I used my striper brush to individually place the stars on my nails. I picked all the stars off by the end of the night, because they stuck up, and bugged the crap outta me. Over all, i need to keep it simple. Hope you enjoyed this mani more then i did :)
