Zoya "Aurora"

Can I just gush for a second about how amazing this polish is? Of course I can, it is my blog, I can do what ever I want.

When I open the color chart sent with my pixie dust Zoya order, the polish Aurora stood out brightly among all the colors.

I could not imagine a more perfect polish, perfectly represented by the photo in the swatch chart.

There are a few things about this polish that I particularly love.

One, ultra high-gloss shine. You hardly need a topcoat with this polish because it is so shiny.

Two, embedded glitter in the polish. This formula is so perfect that it leaves you with a smooth finished. Unlike many other polishes which dry with minimal texture due to the glitter pieces.

Three, overall dimension of the polish. I got lost in my fingernails while wearing this. The gloss, the glitter, The cool last smooth finish.I just cannot. I love it so much.

To add a little style to this manicure, I used a dotting tool to place a few dots on my tips. The color used on my tips is by Orly and is called "Decades of Disfunction ." 

Zoya Pixie Dust "Miranda"

Hello again for another Zoya pixie dust. Today's magical pixie dust is named Miranda. Miranda is a glistening read pixie dust polish, with silver sparkle and texture.

As with all magical pixie dust polishes, you should not use a topcoat with these. Not using a topcoat allows the texture of the polish to show through.

Funky Fingers "Glitter Matters"

There is nothing more hip than solid color glitter polish. Since Indy brands begin making this style of polish the nail polish community has anxiously been awaiting the day when the market would be flooded with drugstore brands re-creating this opaque glitter style.

Funky Fingers "Glitter Matters" features white yellow hexagon shaped glitter, with smaller yellow glitters in a clear base.

Polishes like this are great to liven up a plain color mani.

This polish is same here over Zoya pixie dust "Liberty."

I had this polish traded to me, because this brand funky fingers is only available in a store called Five Below, A discount store in America where everything is under five dollars. However this chain is not in California.

Funky Fingers nail polish may be purchased at Five Below three bottles for five dollars.

The best part about the nail polish community online is interacting and trading with other polish lovers. Girls in groups such as Polishaholics Anonymous will do everything in their power to provide you with polish that you cannot locate in your region of the country or world.

For this trade I had arranged to swap a lot of unused stamping plates for some Funky Finger and Fresh Paint nail polishes that are not sold in my state.

In addition to the polishes I received my swap buddy also included various little goodies to make my package extra special. 

She included a few nail decals, a small vial of sequins, a scented candle, and a bag of nail art rhinestones.

If you ever find your self at a standstill in your polish collection, join a nail polish group and find a swap buddy. It is a fun experience and you get a package in the mail. :)

Zoya Pixie Dust "Liberty"

Zoya Pixie Dust polishes continue to be a love lacquer for me. I know that's all that has been featured lately, but it's all I've been wearing lately.

Can you blame me for wanting to fully appreciate each of my six shades individually?

"Liberty" is a texture royal blue, with less silver glitter than "Vespa" or "Stevie."

The photo displays the color as a little washed out, thing deep sea royal blue. 

The formula on this polish was lovely with full opacity in two coats.

Zoya Pixie Dust "Stevie"

Hello!

Today I have for you Zoya's Pixie Dust in "Stevie." 

This polish is a fresh vibrant lilac with scattered glitter. Pixie Dust polishes by Zoya are designed to be textured. They do not have an overwhelming texture to them, instead an even formula which builds up to opaque in two coats, which levels it's self out nicely.

"Stevie" is also a reletivly fast drying polish, as was "Vespa" seen in one of my previous posts. 

So far my experience with the Zoya Pixie Dust collection has been nothing but sparkly goodness.

You may notice that my ring finger appears to have something strange. This was a nail art design that I thought would be cute, and was simpliy not cute. What you see is one layer of "Stevie" over top.

Zoya Pixie Dust "Vespa"

Hello Fiecreology followers!

It has been a very long time since I have made a post. This is mostly due to the fact that I have been out of the make up and polish loop, and I have not had a disposable income for cosmetics. 

However, with my brand-new job, and young professional lifestyle, my make up and polish interest has been restored.

Since I am not in high school anymore, and do not have all the time in the world to blog, I will be updating this blog from my phone. This will mean simple post with lovely Phone quality photos. 

Today I have for you Zoya's Pixie Dust in "Vespa." This polish came to me in a Zoya BOGO Texture Tuesday sale.

Applying the first coat of this polish, it appeared very sheer with little potential for buildup.

In the description on the website, Vespa is a number five on the opacity scale.

After applying the second coat the five level of opacity was clearly displayed.

This polish is a creamy pistachio base with silver and holographic scattered glitter.

This mani consists of two coats of Color Club "Fly With Me" from the Spring 2012 "Take Wing" collection. On the tips i used Finger Paints "Lemon Sour" just using the brush in the polish. To top off this mani i used a large dotting tool and an opaque black for the dots connecting "Fly With Me" and "Lemon Sour."

Essie "Navigate Her" Go Overboard 2012

This has been deemed one of my new favorite shades for the spring season. Essie "Navigate Her" is a light off minty green, more widely known as pistachio. This is two coats of the amazing formula offered in most all Essie polishes. 

 I first sponged on a bit of "New Bohemian" by Color Club, a bright blue turquoise that i don't think i have ever used before this day. In photos you can not see much of a color difference but in real life it made enough of a difference to me.

I used one coat of my very own "Pepperazi" over my now two tones green nails. Pepperazi is a black and silver glitter. Though it appears black in the bottle it spreads out and looks as it does in the photo to the left.

Finally I sponged on "Gold" by Bonita in chunky concentration on my tips. I found this overall mani to be, odd. I wasn't to crazy about the combo i created but i still love love love Navigate Her.

"Dazzled to Death" Feat: Orly "Ingenue"

Good day lovelies! Now, i have some semi-exciting news for Kattatonic Fierceology. I know that most of you began following my blog because of the makeup, daily looks, and real life product reviews. I'm trying to get back to that. I've been wearing all my makeups again, and as soon as my skills are up to par, or at least my previous standard you'll be seeing makeup looks again mingled in with new product reviews, and of course nail looks and step by steps. One review i am psyched about coming up is the new Palette d' Antoinette from Lime Crime cosmetics that should be here very soon, if not today! This mani began with two coats of Orly "Ingenue" as a base. From there i worked in the order presented to sponge on a gradient to each nail. I of course began with the darker "Side Saddle" and followed with "In Awe of Amber."

I finished with a generous sponging of "Blond Bombshell" near the tips of each nail. I brought together all mt spongy madness with a coat of "Glass Slipper" on each nail.

"Muted" Feat: Sally Hansen "Lacey Lilac"

I began with two beautifully creamy coats of this perfect purple. Lacey Lilac, along with many others in the Xtreme Wear line. The formula on these are perfection, and the price is penny pinching awesome (under $3.) My nails were kinda jacked up when i did this mani, hence the lumps and bumps on my thumb and pinky fingers.

Finger Paints "Pretty as a Portrait" Core

With the brush from this bottle i covered less than half of my nail diagonally. I loved this polish for layering over another because of the opacity and shiny creme formula. The sheen is obviously brighter and sets it a level up from Lacey Lilac. With a dotting tool i made an average of three dots along the diagonal half.

Orly "Mirror Mirror"

I bet looking at this photo you're all like, oh,...what changed? I added yet another diagonal layer of Mirror Mirror. This polish is freeking rad. Formula is A+, opacity A+, color is A+. It's straight gray. I never thought i'd buy a gray polish, or even use this more than once, but i love Mirror Mirror. I've fallen for weird nail color like this and grays and kind of a favorite of mine.

Orly "Twilight" Holiday 2011

For whatever reason i'm not holding Twilight in these photos, I'm sure you can live with this. The final step for this mani was to coat it all with a shimmer top coat. Twilight is a silver shimmer top coat that i like to use in conjunction with blues and purples. I think the silver adds a little something extra that would never shine with out it.

"Bunny Nails" Feat: Orly "Flirty"

They're cute hu? I got my idea for my bunny nails from Cute Polish around Easter. If you have never watched any of her videos i'd go check them out because, she has tons of tutorials that are easy to follow and excellent for people who don't feel confident in their nail art skills.

I will never stop loving this polish. It was one of the firsts in my polish obsession and remains to this day to be one of my favorites. "Flirty" is a bight pink creme shimmer polish that dried with an interesting but not awful texture. In fact the texture is quite neat. My only gripe about this polish would be that the formula does have a tendency to be a little thick, but that helps to achieve opacity in two coats, shown above.

Wet n' Wild "French White" Core Wild Shine
Using the brush from French White i created half circles on my ring finger and thumb. With a dotting tool a used a generous amount to create the ears by dragging down a dollop into the half circle. This step can be rather intimidating, but if you practice on a nail wheel or even paper first you will be able to do this with confidence. Just remember to take your time. Also make sure you are using an opaque white. Sheer whites will only become troublesome.

With a dotting tool i used "Side Saddle" a dark shimmer brown for two large dots to begin my eyes. With a smaller dotting tool i made a small oval for the nose and filled in the ears.

Wet n' Wild "French White" Core Wild Shine
Again with the French White and my dotting tools. I used a medium dotting tool for the eyes. I continued with a larger dotting tool and gobs of polish to create my dripping mani on the rest of my nails. I achieved this by placing a series of dots where i wanted the drips to end and continued by filling in the empty spaces by dragging around the polish with my dotting tool. I was sure to be generous in the process to ensure i didn't snag on my layer of "Flirty."

I finished with a top coat. This was such a simple design that i positively loved. It does take a bit of time and patience but i do think the end product it worth it.
