Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in “Candy Pink” (Review)

I was at Target recently and while browsing the makeup isle I spotted this tube. The bright pink swatch on the tube screamed at me and I screamed inside. I thought I had finally found it, I thought I had finally found an acceptable dupe for MAC’s Candy Yum Yum. How the joy that was flooding my heart, I could hardly speak! Then I opened it ,and realized my vision must have been severely impaired seconds before. While the packaging shows this lip color to be a delicious soft pink, it ended up being all wrong for what I wanted it for. It’s still a decent color, but I was never the less, disappointed.

Company Description:Oh wait, Revlon doesn’t have company descriptions!  So here’s a quick run-down from Target
Instant burst of rich, true color
Elasticolor technology provides immediate color release and hugs lips with a burst of weightless color that feels like a second skin
Available in a range of 20 gorgeous shades
For Use On: Lips

What I Think: This lip color is a dreamy smooth, but maybe a little to slick for some. While it does go on super easy and the twist tube glides like magic, some may find if to be a bit….watery. On your lips you get a very soft subtle pink perfect for that innocent look, or a sexy licking your lips kinda look. This particular lipstick leaves your lips looking moist and shiny. Pigmentation in this color was a bit of a let down.
With flash and with out flash. The picture on the right is a more accurate depiction
As most always, I feel a little ripped on the amount of product received in the tube. Though it is neat that “REVLON” is engraved into the lipstick its self. I like stuff like that

I really like the packaging over all. I think it’s a hip modern look that’s going to look good in my makeup bag. Also, the diamond patter is the same one on my flat iron. :p

Pigmentation disappointment!

I should have known by the 008 that this was going to be a light color, but I had high hopes for pigmentation. You know, delirious high hopes.

The soft pink color is a delicious paring with an over bold look or a simple and sweet pinky/peach eye. But to be honest, the wetness of this lipstick kinda turns me off. I was really hoping for more of a matte finish. But this is more high gloss.

Price: $6.49 at Target

Worth it?:Meh, for me, not really. This lipstick was not at all what I was expecting and I can defiantly live with out it. On my lipstick shelf of looks super exciting but I found it to be a total let down. I don’t like the super sheen glossy finish to it, and it is a little too slippery for my taste. I like more in place colors. Not that this one travels, but it feels like my lips become and ice rink after applying this, with out the refreshing coolness.

Will I Buy It Again?:Probably not. If I do see another color that gets me ultra excited I’ll consider it. But over all I was mostly mehhh about this product. I have no looked up any of the other colors, because for over $6, it’s not worth it to me.

  1. Sorry gal :( I love the Colorburst formula a lot and all the colors I got from them. I'm not quite sure what Candy Yum Yum is supposed to really look like but Carnation may have been a closer match than Candy Pink.
